Chapters 7-8

In the Middle Kingdom in China, Otter had a privileged status because he came from a very well-to-do family.  How is that status changing now that he is in America?

Otter also had a vision of what life in America would be like for himself.  Is that perception changing?  If so, how?

  1. I think Otter is being treated differently because he seemed to be getting bullied by the other kids but he now seems fine. His vision of america was a nice place where he would be helping his father and uncle but he is not with his father or uncle and he seems kind of dissapointed.

  2. Well otter isnt as valuable in America as in china so he is treated differently in America. Because otter is so well treated in china it's a little by of a shock to him how poorly he is treated in America.

  7. Jared, your comments seem eerily similar to Matt's. Can you offer anything else?

  8. How do think Otter can earn that status, Zeus? Also, I don't understand what you meant about his thoughts.

  9. Well what I was trying to say was he thought that America would be awesome but when he actually gets to see what it's like he realizes that his thoughts of America were just thoughts. And Otter could earn a status by working hard.
