Chapter Four

This chapter is filled with tension between Otter, his father, his mother, and his uncle regarding Otter's desire to accompany his father back to the Golden Mountain.  How did the various characters feel about this possibility and why?

  1. Otter's dad doesn't want him to leave his mom because she might need help with things but his dad feels bad for Otter because if it was up to him he would have Otter come but his mom is to concerned.

  2. otters mom feels that otter should stay back and help her. otters father would let otter go if his mother would let him go. otters uncle foxfire might let him go mght not i dont know

  3. Mother Cassia thinks Otter will get hurt or be overwhelmed by the golden mountain. Also Otter's father is split because if Otter's mom needs help, Otter wont be there. And Otter's father feels sympathy for him because of how bad Otter wants to go to the golden mountain.

  4. Well the real argument is whether or not Otter is going to the golden mountains. Uncle Foxfire and Dad think Otter should go and work but,Cassia thinks otter should stay and maintain the family money

  5. Mother says that Otter should stay and help her and shouldn't go in case he gets hurt.On the other hand though Uncle Foxfire and Father knows how badly he wants to go so they say he can go with them.

  6. Matt -- I'm not so sure about that. Some of the things he said and did made me think that Otter's father was secretly hoping for Otter to join him.

  7. mr.b- Iknow his father doesn't want him to go but he not sure if otter should go because of his mother.
