Chapter Four
Based on everything you have read so far in this story, what are Otter's reasons for wanting to go to the Golden Mountain? Why does his mother have such strong objections? What dilemmas does Otter face in trying to make a decision?

Otter wants to go to the golden mountain because he wants to help his dad and uncle and be with them. Plus he wants to be known as a sort of hero and be known throughout the village. His mother doesn't want him to get hurt and she doesn't want him to leave because she might need help with work and she will feel lonely. Otter is concerned though that her mother may feel lonely and it might not be good for her to be on her own.

I agree with matt and just that Otter wants to be like his father and uncle foxfire and he would like to be helpful to father and foxfire, but also his mom will be basicly alone, except for lion rock lady who mother cassia does not care for to much, and is afraid Otter will get hurt or injured very badly.

otter wants to go to the golden mountain so that he can be with his father and uncle.his mother dosen't want him to go because she needs his help at home. otter doesn't want to stay back but he feels he needs to help his mother and his father and maybe his uncle feels that way to.

Interesting thoughts and comments. How do you think Otter might resolve this internal conflict?
