I think he wants to be safe and stay until it is spring and he might not want to risk his life and he probably wants to have food on hand.

ReplyDeleteI don't think he wanted to stay, but his experience and his wisdom, along with tradition, told him that the best thing to do would be to stay with the moose he had just killed -- they now had a lot of food that they certainly could not take on a raft. I think he also suspects that the river will be clogged with ice further downstream, prohibiting their progress. Johnny also suggested that there would be no game to hunt in the canyons.
ReplyDeleteI think that he doesn't want to leave becuase he thinks something bad will happen if they go on the raft.
